Meet the CIMRO Team
Learn a little more about several members of the CIMRO team: Jennifer Clark, RN, MSN; Marge Donoghue, RN, BS; Dustin Kerchner; Cindy Scopel, RN; and Rita Tayler, RN, BSN, MS.
Jennifer Clark, RN, MSN | Review Coordinator
Home town: Arcola, IL
Years with CIMRO: 6
Schools attended: Mennonite College of Nursing (now Illinois State University), Eastern Illinois University, Indiana State University
In addition to handling reports, I coordinate the processes for peer reviewer recruitment and credentialing.
I like knowing that what I do matters. Independent medical peer review is a valuable tool used to improve safety and quality of care for patients as well as an opportunity for providers to share knowledge and expertise. I appreciate that all CIMRO employees and peer-review panel members realize the importance of what we do, and thoughtfully collaborate to provide a quality product.
Marge Donoghue, RN, BS | Review Coordinator
Home town: Cabery, IL
Years with CIMRO: 12
Schools attended: Parkland College; American University, Washington, DC; University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
In addition to handling reports, I choose the non-IRO cases for PR monitoring. I also edit, compile and send reviewer monitoring letters written by Medical Director Dr. Audra Thomas. I compile the “Reviewer Rounds” collection of interesting cases that is sent to PRs twice a year.
A former newspaper reporter and editor, I read/edit various documents for CIMRO. I also ensure guidelines regarding destruction of reports and records are followed. I handle the sending, receiving and reporting of new clients’ responses on our satisfaction surveys. Check elsewhere in this newsletter for comments from folks who appreciate what you do.
My greatest job satisfaction comes from helping improve patient care and safety at our client facilities and promoting education – for the clients, providers under review, and our reviewers. Working at CIMRO also has taught me a great deal about nursing practice. I will never look at documentation, teamwork, communication, and clinical decision making the same again.
Dustin Kerchner | Corporate Support Assistant & Review Program Assistant
Home town: Dalzell, IL
Years with CIMRO: 12 years
Schools attended: Parkland College
I assist with the medical record intake process. Additionally, my duties include providing information technology and accounting department support.
Cindy Scopel, RN | Project Manager/Compliance Manager
Hometown: Hoopeston, IL
Years with CIMRO: 9
Schools attended: Danville Area Community College, Parkland College
As the project manager, my duty is to oversee the review process. The process begins with a request for review and ends when the report has been returned to our client. The same is true for our external peer review work with state insurance departments. I also work with new clients, providing information regarding the peer-review process, pricing, and the final product. I am also responsible for preparing for and participating in the URAC accreditation process.
I enjoy the fact that I can continue to learn about the ever-changing world of medicine. I truly enjoy working with our clients and the physician reviewers, realizing that all of us are looking for better outcomes for patients.
Rita Taylor, RN, BSN, MS | Assistant Project Manager
Home towns: Warren and Fostoria, OH
Years with CIMRO: 5.5
Schools attended: Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN; Eastern Illinois University; University of Illinois at Chicago
In addition to handling reports, I perform a variety of other tasks, including but not limited to: Helping set new clients up and going over the review process with them; reviewing invoices that are sent to the clients once reviews are complete; and, more recently, working with IT to get our review process into a streamlined database.
I enjoy the fact that every day can be a different combination of cases and various other projects, each with its own unique challenges and solutions.
