In court, witnesses are asked to tell the truth – the whole truth. In a similar way, you as CIMRO’s physician reviewers are witnesses to care and treatment provided at our client facilities and you are charged with telling the story – the whole story.

The Whole Story
The role of a PR is primarily educational. At times, that requires going beyond the letter of what you’re being asked, and addressing the spirit of the inquiry. What is the client really asking? Is there anything they’re not asking - but that they do need to know?

The Nominating Committee is seeking applicants to the CIMRO Board of Directors with upcoming election in March 2022.  Terms are for three (3) years.  Board meetings are held in Champaign, IL.

In August 2021, URAC provided notice to CIMRO of "full accreditation" pursuant to the Independent Review Organization (IRO), External Review 5.2 Standards for the maximum three-year period (September 1, 2021 – September 1, 2024).

The PR Manual serves not only as an orientation document to new peer reviewers, but as a resource and guide to both novice and experienced PRs.  Particularly useful is the General Guidelines – Dos and Don’ts of Peer Review (Pages 14-15). 

HOW? Be knowledgeable and compliant. What measures come to mind when thinking how to protect against HIPAA violations?

A frequent question related to liability protection arises in conjunction with peer review activities.  The Health Care Quality Improvement Act of 1986 (HCQIA) provides good-faith immunity from state and federal liability for people participating in the peer review process.
