 As part of our commitment to ongoing quality improvement, CIMRO conducts special projects that focus on specific healthcare topics, issues, concerns or processes. These studies have resulted in significant and measurable improvements in utilization and quality of care indicators and have demonstrated the positive impact of collaborative efforts on patient care.
Topics for special projects may come from government entities, hospitals or managed care organizations and components may include: literature search and executive summary (appropriate settings, current treatment methods, contributing factors); data collection, analysis and resulting feedback; advisory panels; evaluation/updating of existing screening criteria; and collaboration with appropriate entities.
Additionally, in response to client requests, we tailor special projects to the needs of the individual institution. Some special projects conducted include onsite educational sessions regarding the peer review process, which incorporate facility-specific peer review program and plan information, as well as breakout sessions for medical staff that provide hands-on information regarding how to perform peer review of a medical record. We also provide onsite education and individual peer-to-peer discussion regarding radiological
interpretations. Overread services are provided for diagnostic
and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures, sleep
studies, and pathology procedures. Clients include small
facilities or Critical Access Hospitals where there are a limited
number of practitioners on staff to ensure an appropriate evaluation
of various modalities, as well as larger facilities requiring review
of practitioner practice.
